Since 1998, the small helicopters have caught my interests, beginning
with Vario Kobold
and then all types of Raptors manufactured by the TT company. Being
a big fan of the heli's,
I started to work part-time for Aeroomni INC that produced thousands
of rotor blades and
other helicopter spare parts. I was initially hired as its network
administrator, building
a computer network from ground up, and later on I was maintaining its
production databases
and web servers/web designs. Thanks to Internet I could easily work
on the Aeroomni job
from anywhere around the globe and it did not affect my main job as
a commercial pilot.
However, Aeroomni had encountered a lot of problems in customer support
and quality controls
on its products. Eventually the company ceased the heli product operations
and turned to CNC
production. Its commercial heli department was closed so I lost my
IT job. From The plus
side of it was that I started to have a lot of free time to build and
fly the models and
I could also spent much more time with my second hobby, building and
programing CNC machines.

About the conversion kit
In mid-2007, I decided to convert my Raptor 60 to Gasser. After posting
questions on Runryder
as to where to buy conversion kits for Raptor 60/90, the answers surprised
me so much - there
was no conversion kit available on the market at present time. Though
I did learned from a few
responders that their home-grown conversions did work well. I decided
to start my own as well,
following the suggestions under the topic "Zaptor gasser". People there
provided me with a great
deal of help and support, my conversion proceeded faster than I expected
and was completed in
just one month so I could start the first test. Thanks to perfect weather
conditions in the
south of Spain I was able to reach 100 hours very quickly with zero
accident as you can see
in my log book. All worled so well that people started to ask me for
the conversion kits.
Since I was well connected in the machining industry, there was no
problem to produce more
conversion kits. The quality was good and I started to sell my own
kits with instructions and
pictures!
That is the short story about me and conversion. In case you buy it
I hope you enjoy the Raptor
Gasser as much as I did. Since I still have my other job, my goal is
not to sell thousands of
kits but to suport the buyers in order to keep their birds in top conditions
and for as long as
possible. I would greatly appreciate Your comments about the
quality and any suggestion on how
to make the kit stronger and more durable.
